Snobby Beer Written Reviews – Sierra Nevada Ovila Quad

Sierra Nevada Ovila Quad

Sierra Nevada brings us their third and final edition of their Ovila series – a Trappist-style Quad. The beer comes in at 10.4%, and like the others in the series, proceeds from the sale of this beer will go toward the Abbey of New Clairvaux.

APPEARANCE

It looks like a typical quad, maybe perhaps a little darker than others. Pours a Coca-Cola brown with some slight red coming through from the light. The khaki head was about a finger and had very small bubbles. It is slightly viscus, but not syrupy. Overall looks true to the style. [Read more...]

APPEARANCE

Black as hell. We’re talking Imperial Stout darkness here, with only a smidge of red/brown light poking through the edge. For the most part, though, it’s like a black hole that not even light can escape. [Read more...]

Snobby Beer Written Reviews – Goose Island Big John

Goose Island Big John

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Brewed in March 2011.

APPEARANCE

Blacker than black, just a hair of light came through as it was being poured. The head was mocha/chocolate milk colored, small, and dissipated fairly quickly. There was a good amount of lacing as I drank it.

Snobby Beer Written Reviews – Stone Ruination IPA

Stone Ruination IPA

Poured from 22 oz. bomber into a snifter

First off – WOW! This is extremely intense beer!

APPEARANCE

One of the best-looking IIPA’s – and beers in general – I’ve ever seen. A beautiful crystal clear orange color. The head was a good 2 fingers and was off-white, almost a slight orange color. It looked like apple juice with a foamy head. Looking at this beer in a snifter would make your mouth water! [Read more...]
