Top 10 Best Beers of 2011 – Snobby Beer

This is a very special episode of Snobby Beer. This is the Top 10 Best Beers of 2011, or rather the Top 10 Best Beers That I Shot Video Reviews Of. I had some incredible craft beers in ’11, and I didn’t even get a chance to post all the reviews I shot.

Did any of your favorite beers make the list? Are there any that you think shouldn’t be on here? Grab a beer and leave me a comment!

Snobby Beer Reviews – Deschutes The Abyss (2010)

This is the Snobby Beer Review of The Abyss made by Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. This is the 2010 batch and was enjoyed after 1 year of aging. The bottle has a “Best After” date printed as opposed to a “Best Before” date, so I decided to sit on the beer until after this date (which also happened to be the same day as the 2011 release of the brew). This beer has an A+ rating on Beer Advocate, and 100 on Rate Beer. It’s released once a year in November, and is one of the most highly sought-after Imperial Stouts available.

From the Deschutes website:

“A deep, dark Imperial Stout, The Abyss has almost immeasurable depth and complexity. Hints of molasses, licorice and other alluring flavors make it something not just to quaff, but contemplate.

As for the great “drink it now or let it age” debate, we stand clearly on the fence. Distinct and delicious on release, the flavors meld and fuse into an entirely different pleasure a year on.”
